Probably the most obvious insult to public intelligence fabricated by rightwing think tanks and kept uppermost in the collective mind by George Bush and Republican neo-cons through endless repetition in the same breath with 9/11 is the deceptive frame: “war-on-terror.” This stupid frame finds particular traction among uninformed and mesmerized minds – stupid because war itself creates terror.
The 9/11 tragedy, born from a Saudi-Bush conspiracy, should have launched an immediate, open, and thorough national investigation along with a cooperative international police hunt. Instead, Saudi and Bin Laden families were on the only plane allowed to fly out of the country on the day of the tragedy, no questions asked. Efforts to find out vital information about the attack were stalled. Wreckage from the Twin Towers was shipped to China before it could be examined. 9/11 was spun into the reason for a deadly, multi-billion-dollar military-industrial aggression against Iraq, a country that had nothing to do with 9/11. To date over 100,000 Iraqis and 3,000 Americans have died in that conflict.
A Different World is Possible will outline the steady erosion of treasured American constitutionally guaranteed freedoms justified by the Bush government in the name of “national security” (another fake frame) and the “war on terror.” It will show how the “war on terror” frame has been used to sanction criminal kidnapping with torture outsourcing, concentration camps, and unspeakable violations of the Geneva Conventions on Human Rights. Keeping the nation in a state of fear has been the fertile ground for the deployment of massive domestic electronic spying networks by the Bush Administration.
George Bush and his Administration must be held accountable for their lies and acts that have caused this enormous human suffering and death. Once Americans in large numbers see beyond the “war on terror” frame, they will initiate their own Nuremberg Trials and return justice to their land.
