The Katrina disaster brutally penetrated the fog and smokescreen of the wealthiest nation on earth to lay bare the naked facts: squalor and desperate poverty gripping one fifth of the nation. It showed millions of Americans robbed of their share of the commonwealth: without social or legal protections, without livelihoods, without medical services, without meaningful access to good education. The oft- trumpeted “rags to riches” fiction was debunked as the exception that proved the rule.

Betrayal of America’s traditional values generates lavish profits and a tax cut bonanza for the wealthiest few, who buy most politicians with campaign finance bribes. The rich in the richest country on earth exploit the poor, abuse labor, and steal from the middle class every day, hiding their crimes behind corporate veils and political corruption.

The largest multi-nationals, in collusion with dictatorial puppet regimes, have outsourced millions of American jobs to cheap slave and child labor camps in foreign countries. This dastardly evil is concealed behind false frames like “free trade,” “leave no child behind,” and “tort reform,” and is fueled by a steady flow of misinformation from mainstream media-whores.

Katrina also ruthlessly exposed an incompetent and criminally indifferent leadership. Oppressors deceive, manipulate, and frighten until the people stop them.

In 2006, enough Americans got scared, ashamed, and outraged to vote the Republican majority out of office. GOP torture aficionados, criminal warmongers, sniveling corporate swine, and a President who brazenly lied to the public about weapons of mass destruction – all this caused citizens of the U.S. to demand a change of course.

The election notwithstanding, a neo-con cabal of madmen still continues to push an agenda for world domination. Fellinesque cine-magic will show how we can and why we must stop their lunatic rush toward the abyss of nuclear war and eco-cataclysms.
